A behind-the-scenes look at The Athenian Wilderness Experience: climbing Mt. Ubehebe, learning how to cook on a camp stove, rock climbing, crossing the “Racetrack,” pitching tents, reading maps and navigating terrain, clearing trails, and of course, hiking.

Death Valley: Scenery and logistics
what an incredible offering! what a miraculous education! what a gorgeous knowing, now–who one is–how much is enough–what the earth feels like in full support of all the precious and beautiful life there is that lives on it…

So many memories (87-88). I am amazed that with all that has happened since then, the memories of Death Valley are still crystalline, and have faded little. I wonder how much they have steered the direction of my life? Pride, fear, accomplishment, fraternity, shame, forgiveness, longing – so varied were the emotions. What a wonderful thing that each year a new group may be able to experience these same shades of ones character, and more. Kudos Athenian, and congratulations to the new AWE groups in their success.
